Bathurst 1983 brought controversy, Brock was streets ahead when on Lap 10 the 05 car limped into the pits with a bent valve. Brock took advantage of a loophole in the regulations, and when John Harvey pitted the No.25 car on Lap 20, Brock jumped in instead of Harvey's co-driver and Brocks brother, Phil "Split Pin" Brock. It was legal because car 25 hadn't made its first pit stop, but many fans thought it disgraceful. The official result was a win for Brock/Harvey/Perkins.
