After announcing his retirement from motor racing early in the Shell ATCC, Brock was still competitive, narrowly missing a top 5 position, finishing 6th. A flat tyre robbed Brock of winning the last ATCC race of his career at Oran Park.

Skaife put 05 on pole at Bathurst. Not quite a fairy tale ending, Brock was leading the race when he handed the wheel to Mark Skaife. Shortly after the Brock pit bay was silenced with news of a fuel injector failure, ending Brocks chances of a 10th win.
