Brock was in trouble on the very first stage when his Commodore slid off the road. Fellow Commodore driver Ross Dunkerton helped Brock out of his predicament, unintentionally Brock 'thanked' Dunkerton for his efforts by reversing into his car while getting back onto the road. Brock lost over 1hr putting him out of contention, while team mate Ed Ordinski went on to win the event.
